Editor's review
This is a software package that helps build installers.
EMCO MSI Package Builder is an installation authoring tool designed to help administrators to create, maintain and distribute Windows Installer packages. These packages can be later installed at remote user machines. This is an installation editor that lets you create MSI packages. You could create MSI packages automatically by using the changes tracking technology built inside the MSI builder. Alternately, you could do it manually with the help of the visual editor that is part of the tool. The MSI builder can help with repackaging of the older applications too. You can create the MSI packages for them for the newer copies being distributed. This tool will help create MSI packs for EXE items as well. The package is able to keep track of, in real time, all file system and registry changes that is caused by the application. When creating the MSI package the monitored changes are taken into account.
Creation of the MSI can be managed without any programming through the simple wizard. You will be able to support system variables so that configuration differences in the user machines can be taken care of. If a package needs updating, it can be done through de-compiling of the existing package and then editing of the existing file. File attributes are supported. This starter edition has a GUI that is quite intuitive. You can configure installation actions and resources through a visual interface. Items required can be picked from the projects tree. For monitoring a path to the executable file or installation to be launched needs to be specified. Changes will be tracked and incorporated in making the MSI units. This is a handy tool.
